Someone needs to create TemplateCrunch or something. Release templates under a Creative Commons license including your topics that you mentioned in the article... but generic. Why X Will Fail, Why X is Dead, etc.

Tech *writing* is getting boring. There's few people out there digging out interesting stuff, while most tech writers are content to rehash press releases and stuff they've read elsewhere. There's honourable exceptions, but mostly... dull.

    Or.. *generate* said news automatically.
  • July 20, 2008 at 6:31 pm Robert Seidman
Haha Eric, "Mad Libs" style template-driven blogging. Someone does need to create that.
  • July 20, 2008 at 6:31 pm Louis Gray
Nope! Anybody who wants out, please get out.

To a point, yes. The Echosphere is alive and well.
  • July 20, 2008 at 6:36 pm l0ckergn0me
    yes.
  • July 20, 2008 at 6:38 pm Aaron Brazell
Yes, honestly, it is. One of the things I'm trying to do with my show is step outside the tech box and get into real issues.
  • July 20, 2008 at 6:57 pm Robert Scoble
thank you for noticing I haven't been blogging much lately. Been too busy having interesting conversations with people like politicians and stadium architects. If tech is boring you aren't using it for anything interesting!
  • July 20, 2008 at 6:59 pm Aaron Brazell
No disrespect intended, Robert... but who noticed you haven't been blogging much? Missed where your name entered our conversation... ;)
  • July 20, 2008 at 6:59 pm Steven Hodson
@Robert .. if you read the post you would have seen there are things that I want to try but for various reasons I can't - not everyone has the resources that you do my friend

Go talk to @amandachapel I am sure she will keep you busy! Once she likes you it is like marriage till death do you part! LMAO
  • July 20, 2008 at 7:05 pm Peter Dawson
Robert - You are an idiot if you suggest the Steve has noticed that are not blogging lately..nowhere in his post does he remotely even suggest that and somewhere you have inserted yourself into this convo, as if you are really an interesting tech blogger or something of that nature. Sorry I echo Aaron comments above , but I am surely very direct ..and btw I find your FF posts more interesting then your darn vid's and at times (like this) - your comments are a bundle of shit !! :)-
  • July 20, 2008 at 7:10 pm Robert Scoble
touchy, touchy! I am just having fun since the last few "tech blogging is dead" post by others note that I have switched my time from blogging to FF.

But Robert thats your very weakness..you insert foot into mouth , while the rest of us (who like you) are just waiting for you to the take the other foot out of mouth, before you begin your next screech :)- You always trip and fall honesty by your own mouth..think before speaking !! Remember, we see your comments all over ....

You aged a year in one day? Happy Birthday?
  • July 20, 2008 at 7:24 pm Dan Kaplan
    Wow, Peter. Them's fighting words
  • July 20, 2008 at 7:25 pm Robert Scoble
I am just trying to make things interesting. It is amazing, though, that more than a million people waited in lines for iPhone's and you have the audacity to say tech is boring. Sure was interesting to the two architects I interviewed this week.

Peter, I think you're elevating Robert Scoble to an inhuman level. He puts his pants on just like you: one leg at a time. (except when he puts his on, he makes gold records, OH! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZhSkRHXTKlw)
  • July 20, 2008 at 7:27 pm Louis Gray
I'm going to make a Britney video: "Leave Robert Alone!"
  • July 20, 2008 at 7:28 pm Mark Trapp
Haha, Louis: I was just thinking that. "You know his.. his last blog post... 'How much time are you wasting on Twitter?' IT'S BECAUSE OF YOU!"
  • July 20, 2008 at 7:28 pm Mo Kargas
    LOL @ Louis!
  • July 20, 2008 at 7:29 pm Robert Scoble
I also find it interesting that most people in the world have no clue what any of the stuff we talk about is yet we are already bored. This is arrogance of highest level. If you are bored with tech blogging, then go write a blog that teaches other people something!
  • July 20, 2008 at 7:32 pm Aaron Brazell
Not going to be as critical as Peter. But I'm gonna say he's right. Heh.
  • July 20, 2008 at 7:33 pm Robert Seidman
Mark Trapp, I confess I *did* download the silly More Cowbell app from the iPhone App Store and if so motivated can now actually add more cowbell to any song playing on the iPhone .
  • July 20, 2008 at 7:34 pm Rahsheen(is Awesome)
The echo is friggin awesome in the tech blogosphere. There are a few who stand apart from the rest, though. I also notice a few coming into their own. As far as not being interested in writing anything...I think you're just having a bad day, Steven. Rest your brain :)
  • July 20, 2008 at 7:35 pm Mark Trapp
Robert, there's an app that does that? Man, that's almost worth the price of admission itself.
  • July 20, 2008 at 7:37 pm Aaron Brazell
Rahsheen- Interested to know which ones you notice are coming into their own? I've got some ideas, but want to follow people I haven't seen yet who are fresh.
  • July 20, 2008 at 7:39 pm .LAG
@scoble: amen to that! my non-tech friends could give two sh*ts about what TechCrunch or TechMeme or Slashdot or Digg or Gizmodo or sixty-nine other tech blogs and publications have to say...about anything. Technosphere, please get over yourself, back away from the computer, and interact with 'real' people in the 'real world' just a little more. me, now I need to get back to FriendFeeding!
  • July 20, 2008 at 7:40 pm Rahsheen(is Awesome)
Hrm...I will have to run through my GReader and make a quick list.
  • July 20, 2008 at 7:40 pm Robert Seidman
Mark T: making that up just for FriendFeed would be way too much effort on my part. It exists, and, for the price (free) I consider it a must have app: http://homepage.mac.com/mavsftwre/Maverick_Software/More_Cowbell!.html
  • July 20, 2008 at 7:53 pm Mark Trapp
That's awesome, Robert. Truly a pinnacle of iPhone innovation.
  • July 20, 2008 at 7:58 pm Jason Kaneshiro
yes. huge reason why I write about other subjects.
  • July 20, 2008 at 8:01 pm David Kemper
Tech blogging is probably getting boring because, like all things, the A-list bloggers cannot remain on top forever. It's the law of nature. New blood, fresh faces, and better content are coming soon.
  • July 20, 2008 at 8:01 pm Kevin C. Tofel
It's not enough (IMO) to just re-write tech news. How are folks impacted by it, how can they use it to make their lives better, why would they use / not use some tech over other, etc... I'll be the first to say that I don't do that enough, but that's my ultimate goal: share the news and add value to it on a personal level.
