THEbear

My dear friend

No, my parents are proud of me, thats it. I would love it, if the city would have a big party over that.

Maybe I should ask?

But hey, your chance is coming!!! You’ll seeeeeeeeeee!! So stop crying!

Great, Switzerland is first. Next time maybe jump in and slow down Hitler or something.

Godwin law fail!

THEbear

We are trying now. With G. W. Bush.

Dynamo

How, by bad-mouthing him on blogs. Well I have news for you, he can’t read.

THEbear

No? He can’t? Hm…

So is this WIN or FAIL for him?

Dynamo

Well, if you consider being completely clueless to what is going on around you a win then yes, he is a huge winner. But it’s definitely a fail for every one that voted him in.

bored

Twice!!!!

In any other country, if the majority of voters had an ounce of sense, after the first time he was elected they would have realise the man running their country had the brain capacity of a small guinea pig! But somehow the majority of the American voters decided to let chimp features have another crack at the whip! Un-bloody-believable!!!!!

advertisement for the benefits of democracy = FAIL!

Khaaaaaaan

Description FAIL => quite bloody, quite believeable.

I just hope other countries realize 73% of Americans disapprove of GWB and the majority of American internet users and younger voters are pretty anti-Bush, so unfortunately the only people most other countries’ citizens can criticize (online) are on the same side of that fence.

mac

Offending guinea pigs - WIN!

Cool! A Farside quote! Gary Larson is a genius and one of the few Seppo’s that understand subtle, intelligent humour.

MyMalady

stfu

AdamG

Prince is going to sue you now.

stfu

Oh not again! Curse you, Prince! *shakes fist*

Nick

Although this looks a little strange I don’t think it’s a fail. It looks like a door that is only meant for entering the building and the picture was taken from the inside of the building. What the “Enter Only” sign means is that it is not an exit from the building, but an entrance. Still, it is a funny/bad choice of wording.

wood

does a bad choice of wording not constitute a fail?

Art Vandalay

Good point. Logic WIN!

But yes, a terrible choice of words. Maybe “Use Other Door” or something would have been more appropriate.

MyMalady

oh such a party pooper. i for one think that it is funny no matter which angle it is taken from.. maybe if it is flipped upside down it woud be even more hilarious

Bill

No, it can’t be an entry taken from the wrong side, otherwise it would be a reverse image, like “ylno retnE”

Art Vandalay

I think he means that the sign is properly oriented towards people inside the building, informing them not to enter the door because it’s intended only for those entering the building, not those entering.

Therefore, the door would be for entry and not exit and the major problem is the fact that they refer to passing through the door from inside to outside as “Entry.”

Art Vandalay

Wow, explanation fail…let me try that again…

I think he means that the sign is properly oriented towards people inside the building, informing them not to enter the door because it’s intended only for those entering the building, not those EXITING.

Therefore, the door would be for entry and not exit and the major problem is the fact that they refer to passing through the door from inside to outside as “Entry.”

Dynamo

Wow man, you just blew my mind.

AdamG

Vandalay, you should know, since you’re an architect!

Corwin_the_Physicist

“Truly, you have a dizzying intellect.”
–Westley (’The Princess Bride’)

Mourner

the fact remains that you can clearly read two separate signs, one saying that you CANNOT enter this way, and the other stating that you CAN ONLY enter this way.

They could just have placed a sign “no exit”

besides that, this does not have to be an exterior door, (although the lightsource would indicate so)

another possiblilty would be that this is the inner door of a type of “airgate”, to prevent draft (inner door doesn’t open till outer door is closed), but why you should only be allowed to enter it from one direction ????

either way, it’s a fail for placing two contradicting signs.

Kurt

You are correct in that it is taken from indoors, based on two things, the wall on the other side of the door is an exterior type wall, and also I saw this exact same thing in a local Target store. I’m just wondering if this pick was taken at a Target too.

Chuck S

>>I’m just wondering if this pick was taken at a Target too.<<

Yep, it was…I walked past and the contradiction just caught my eye. While the intent was obvious with any thought at all, the signs created a logical conundrum that would be difficult to resolve for a (sadly) growing slice of the general population that did learn to read, but never learned to think…

C

Kurt

I took the same pic on my cel phone. Would have posted it but it didn’t turn out that well. Planned on going back and retaking it where it was a bit clearer, but SOMEONE went and screwed up that plan =-p

Corto

you should enter because if you have a Gun you can do it and everything.

dahcheet

This has to be at a Target. They always had these signs so people would exit through the exit and not through the entrance. Poor wording.

Fail.

Anonymous

This door is not to be used as an entrance or an exit.

Anonymous

The door is a lie!

Anonymous

The door is a lie.

Corwin_the_Physicist

Do 2 lies make a truth?

MyMalady

or it means that someone is just gettin busy..

Anonymous

Everything I say is a lie. Except what I just said. And that. And that. And that. And that. Oh, and that…

aaaaanon

Oh what’s that? What’s that? WHAT’S THAT! Hey, you’re the lady from the test! Ooh, that thing has numbers on it!

Kurt

I am old enough to remember the rotary phones, but only from when I was fairly young, and even then remembering them in the “These things seem kind of out of date” context.
OK, just for the heck of it, guess my age now.
